Since Night Fall’s start in 2012, it has been our goal to reflect the cultural richness of Hartford’s communities in our Artistic Collaboration, Cast, Staff, Board, Audience, Vendors, and Performances. We continue to learn from each other and expand the reach of our creative network. For Night Fall, diversity and inclusion means cultivating a culture of welcoming and belonging for an intersectional spectrum of community representative of multiple identities: race, gender expression, sexuality, age, abilities, social well-being, culture, creative expression, and beyond; therefore, we acknowledge that we always have room to both grow and lead.

In late 2020, our Artistic Collaboration was born. The Collaboration is a team of local choreographers, composers, makers, actors, comedians, and writers who create the original script, music, dance, and design for Night Fall performances and other collaborative, creative projects. We come from many backgrounds and histories, and one thing we share is our love for Hartford. Through our collaborative process we open the door to new ideas, new forms of artistic expression, and new connections among our creative city’s artists.

We want more paid work for artists! Night Fall pays artists a living wage for their work in the Collaboration, performances, rehearsals, public appearances, workshops, and more. It is important to all of us at Night Fall to honor the life and work of artists by fostering their creative process, leadership opportunities, and connections to each other. We want to nurture and provide resources for commissioned work and performance opportunities for artists, which brings creativity and joy to our city.

“Everyone is invited” is our motto at Night Fall! We strive to create meaningful and reflective relationships with everyone we meet through our local auditions, workshops, public appearances, and performances. Moving our productions from park to park each year renews our connection with Hartford’s amazing communities and the splendor of our rich cultural histories.
